A 17-year-old boy has been questioned by police over the collision which saw a car mount a kerb and hit a group of Runshaw College students in Leyland last month.

Three students were injured in the collision on October 12, including a 16-year-old boy who was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Lancashire Police said the teenagers were struck by a grey Volkswagen Polo which mounted the kerb on a right-hand bend in Worden Lane, near the gatehouse entrance to Worden Park.

The two other pedestrians, a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Polo was unhurt, but one of the passengers suffered minor injuries.

The force said ‘enquiries are ongoing’ and a 17-year-old boy has been voluntarily interviewed under caution regarding an allegation of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Last month, Lancashire Police said two other drivers who were in the area around the time of the collision, had also been ‘traced and spoken to’. The two vehicles were a Grey Vauxhall Astra and a blue VW Polo.

The force later issued an appeal for witnesses and footage to assist its “investigation into what happened and what involvement anyone had”.

“If you have mobile phone footage, please send it to us through the appropriate channels.

“We are also asking people to refrain from speculating online and allow our officers to carry out a full and thorough investigation appropriately.

“If you can assist us in any way, please call 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 0453 of October 12.”
