The order will be in place until 4am and can be extended if necessary, giving officers the power to search anyone across a number of areas, including Brookfield, Fishwick and Moor Nook.

Preston Police said there will be an increased number of officers in the city while a Section 60 and Section 60AA order under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 is in force.

The powers allow officers to stop and search any person within the designated area outlined in red on the map (pictured above), covering Brookfield, Moor Nook, Grange, Greenlands, Fishwick, Callon and St Matthews.

During this period, officers also have the authority to remove face coverings.

To report a crime, contact 101. In an emergency, call 999.
