South Ribble Police have warned of a 'common misconception' after they seized two cars earlier today.

Taking to social media this evening, South Ribble Police revealed that the local Task Force was out in Leyland today tackling anti social rivers amongst other things.

It comes as many Leyland residents have reportedly told the force, via Lancashire Talking, that road safety was a main issue where they lived.

As a result of the Task Force operations today, South Ribble Police seized two cars, pictured above, for driving without valid insurance.

A force spokesperson said: “Both driver's provided a very similar story. ‘Please Officer, I am insured fully comp on another car so I can drive this one with third party insurance’

“We subsequently checked this information with the Motor Insurance Bureau and it turns out they were both NOT Insured.

“This seems to be a common misconception amongst drivers that you can drive ANY vehicle if you have a fully comprehensive insurance package on a vehicle but this is NOT the case. You must check your own policy before choosing to drive another vehicle because you could risk having that car seized and potentially 6 penalty points on your licence.

“To those of you who have told us about the road safety issues then I hope you can see that we are listening and we will act on your concerns.”
