A Preston man has been arrested twice on suspicion of attempted burglary in just 24 hours.

Police were called at around 8.45pm yesterday (Thursday, December 3) after a man was reported trying to break into a terraced home in St Christopher’s Road, Deepdale.

A man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody, where he was recognised by officers who had just released him on bail the day before.

He had been arrested on suspicion of another burglary the day before on Wednesday (December 2), but 24 hours later he was back in custody at Preston Police Station.

The man, 41, from Preston, was again arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, as well as the offences of criminal damage, going equipped and possession of an offensive weapon.

He remains in custody this afternoon (Friday, December 4).

Police have warned that opportunistic thieves are more likely to target homes and vehicles in the run-up to Christmas.

Yesterday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Moor Nook after a parcel van was stolen whilst its driver was delivering a package to a home off Pope Lane.
