Preston dad sentenced over drug offences

A man who was caught red handed with drugs in Preston has avoided an immediate jail term.

Billy Butler, 24, of West Park Avenue, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was caught with 2.7 grams of cocaine and 45.6 grams of cannabis more than two years ago, in April 2018.

He later admitted possession with intent to supply a Class A and class B drugs, and a charge of drug driving, relating to the same date when he was seen driving a Volkswagen Golf on London Road, Ringway, Walker Street, and Sizehouse Street.

Mark Stephenson previously told Preston Crown Court the defendant had two severely disabled children.

Judge Sara Dodd imposed 18 months in prison, suspended for 24 months, with a rehabilitation order.

She also forfeited the drugs and £910 cash.

He must pay a £140 victim surcharge.
