Police warning over Covid rules as Fylde party organiser fined £10,000
On the eve of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's new 'Rule of Six' coming into effect in a new effort to reduce large gathering, Lancashire Police ghave stressed the need for residents to follow the regulations.
A force spokesman said: "Reports came in at around 7.20pm on Saturday night and when officers followed it up they found a party taking place at an address in the Dowbridge area of Kirkham, with around 45 people present in a marquee and a live band playing.
"As a result, a £10,000 fixed penalty notice was issued to the organiser.
"We would just like to reiterate that we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the rules are there to stop the spread of the virus and to keep everybody safe.
"We want things to go back to normal just as much as you.
"Though our approach has always been to engage with people to explain the rules, and we don’t take enforcement action lightly, we will issue fines for non-compliance where necessary.
