On Saturday an officer had his foot run over on the hardshoulder of the M55 before the driver tore off and lead police on a chase to Preston, reaching speeds of up to 140mph.
Officers have also been called to deal attend a fatal bus crash in Fulwood, have stopped an abnormal load travelling through the county, recovered weapons from a group in a car, and have stopped a host of drug and drink-drivers.

. Weapons
A van in Blackpool just didn’t look right to a patrolling police sergeant. When the vehicle was stopped, the driver tested positive for drugs, had no licence or insurance, the vehicle was on cloned plates, there were more people than seats and weapons were found on board. . In excess of 100mph
This Vauxhall Zafira decided to ignore the “follow me” on the matrix board of a police patrol car, before driving dangerously at speeds exceeding 100mph on the M6 northbound. The driver was stopped with the help of two other police cars at junction 35. The driver has been disqualified until 2023. Photo: Lancs Police
. Drug test
This Vauxhall Vivaro was stopped in Bolton Road, Blackburn. The driver admitted to having smoked cannabis recently and tested positive on a roadside drug test. Photo: Lancashire Police
5. Police officer hurt in hit and run
This is the Citroen which ran over a police officer on the M55 on Saturday, November 12. The officer had pulled over the speeding car on the hardshoulder near Kirkham, but when the officer approached the car, the driver sped away and ran over the officer’s foot. The driver was pursued along the M55 to Preston at speeds of up to 140mph where he was boxed and stopped with support from Merseyside Police and Cheshire Police. The police officer was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital suffering minor injuries. The driver was arrested for wounding and dangerous driving. Photo: Lancashire Police
6. Stolen car
This Ford Focus had been stolen as part of a burglary a few weeks ago. It was found this week, abandoned in Lytham, and recovered for crime scene investigators to inspect. Photo: Lancs Police
7. "Drunken disturbance"
Following what police describe as a "drunken disturbance" in Lytham, one of the people involved jumped into their car and made an attempt to drive away. The driver was removed from the car and provided a breath sample which was more than twice the drink drive limit. Photo: Lancs Police
8. Window tints and drugs
This vehicle caught the attention of officers in Skeffington Road, Preston, due to the window tints and the overwhelming smell of cannabis. The driver failed a roadside test for cannabis and was arrested. Photo: Lancs Police
