Preston stabbing victim rushed to hospital after 'targeted attack' in Ashton

A man was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in Preston this morning.

Hide AdOfficers closed Birkdale Drive and Ashford Road - off Blackpool Road in Ashton - after a man was stabbed in the street shortly after 6am.
He was taken to hospital but police say his injuries are not currently thought to be life threatening. Two men have been arrested and taken into custody after what police described as a ‘targeted attack’.

Hide AdA police spokesperson said: “You may have seen some police activity in the Ashford Road and Birkdale Drive areas this morning and we wanted to let you know what had happened.
“We were called at shortly after 6am today (Wednesday, May 1) to a report of men fighting.
“Officers attended and a man was taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Hide Ad“He is currently being treated for his injuries which are not currently thought to be life threatening.
“Two men have been arrested and are currently in custody.
“Enquiries are ongoing but we believe this incident was isolated and targeted and there is no threat to the wider public.
“We would like to thank the public for their co-operation while we dealt with this complex and fast-moving incident.

Lancashire Police is asking anyone with information to call the force on 101 quoting log 229 of today (May 1).
Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Earlier this morning, the force closed two roads near the scene of the attack while CSI attended.

“Please avoid the area where possible.”
