More than 50 youths found at a house party in Chorley after police shut it down

A Chorley house party with more than 50 teenagers in attendance was shut down by police on Friday evening.

Police attended a house on Scawfell Road in Chorley on Friday evening and the occupant of the house that hosted the party has been handed a £10,000 Covid-19 fine.

Officers from Lancashire Police went to the house after residents in the area had made reports about it.

The force said it believed that more than 50 people, mainly teenagers, were at the party.

It is also understood that the house has caused 'several issues' for nearby residents since the start of the pandemic last year.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police for police said: "We received reports of a house party on Scawfell Road in the late hours of Friday 9th April 2021.

"Officers attended and found a large house party ongoing with an estimate of over 50 people in attendance, mostly teenagers.

"As a result, the occupant of the address has been issued with a £10,000 Covid 19 fine.

"We appreciate this address has caused several issues for residents since the pandemic began and thank them for their patience."

Individuals who attend house parties and gatherings can also be handed £800 fines but the force did not state if any had been dished out to the youths.
