Man pleads guilty to threatening Lancaster council boss in street

A man has pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour towards the leader of Lancaster City Council.

James Mcloughlin, 28, of Blades Street, Lancaster appeared at Lancaster Magistrates Court on April 20.

He was ordered to pay £350 compensation and court costs of £85.

The incident occurred in Fenton Street in Lancaster on Sunday, March 14.

Coun Dr Erica Lewis, the Labour leader of the city council, posted on social media that she was on her way home, when a passing man threatened her.

The post prompted Lancaster Police to make their own statement, saying that they were made aware that a woman had reported that she had been threatened by a man in the street in Lancaster.
