Road ban for drink driver after crash

A drink driver who was involved in a collision with a car has been banned from the road for three years.

Jose Manuel Figueira, of Latham Crescent, Tarleton, near Preston, had denied a charge of drink driving.

But he was convicted of the offence after a trial before Preston Magistrates’ Copurt.

During the case the bench heard his Vauxhall Tigra had collided with a Nissa Qashqai on Church Road in Tarleton on March 22, but he drove away from the scene.

The 46-year-old also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to stop after an accident.

The court was told he was found to have 51mg of alcohol in his breath when he was caught, which is above the legal limit of 35mg.

He was ordered to pay a £180 fine, a £30 victim surcharge, and £310 in prosecution costs.

Woman did not declare income

A woman who failed to declare her work income while claiming benefits has appeared before a court.

Pamela Howes, of Tinniswood, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, admitted dishonestly failing to notify Preston City Council of a change in circumstances over an increased income, affecting her claim for housing benefit.

The offence happened between April 2013 and April 2016.

The 62-year-old defendant also admitted a similar offence committed between October 2016 and January 2017, which related to a claim for hosuing benefit.

The court heard she had made arrangements to pay the debt back to the DWP.

She was given a two year conditional discharge and must pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Lee Armour, 40, of De Lacy Street, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was found guilty of having no TV licence and must pay a £120 fine, £30 surcharge, and £120 costs.

Adam Dagnall, 31, of Heyes Hunt Avenue, Leyland, was given a curfew after admitting assaulting a woman and damaging her phone, and must pay £80 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £150 costs.

Ryan Walch, 31, of Strand Road, Ashton, Preston, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after admitting damaging the back windscreen on a VW Golf and sending offensive messages, and must pay £75 compensation, a £120 fine, a £30 victim surcharge, and £85 costs.

David Owen, 32, of Chester Road, Manchester, was given a curfew and a restraining order after admitting assaulting a woman in Chorley and damaging a front door, and must pay £360 compensation.

Arkadiusz Zalewski, 37, of The Hawthorns, Eccleston, Chorley, was found guilty of failing to give a breath test and must pay a £255 fine, £30 surcharge, and £450 costs.

Samantha Beattie, 21, of Quins Croft, Leyland, admits driving without insurance and must pay a £230 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Diogo Fausto Borges-Tavares, 31, of Acregate Lane, Ribbleton, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Anita Dickinson, 42, of Rufus Street, Deepdale, Preston, admits assaulting a PC and must pay £50 compensation, an £80 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Sarita Allonby, 21, of Church Street, Higher Walton, Preston, was found guilty of having no TV licence and must pay a £60 fine, £30 surcharge, and £120 costs.
