Man had gas weapon

A MAN who was found in possession of a CS gas cannister on a main road has been ordered to do 80 hours’ unpaid work.

Shahzad Ashraf, 38, of Whalley Range, Blackburn, was arrested on February 24 on Strand Road in Preston, magistrates were told.

He later admitted possessing a weapon capable of discharging gas.

The bench imposed a £60 victim surcharge and ordered him to pay £40 costs.

PRESTON: A fraudster who agreed to fit windows for a woman has been ordered to pay her £1,550 in compensation.

Ian Babbidge, 40, of Elm Avenue, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, admits fraud by false representation and must do 80 hours’ unpaid work.

Preston magistrates ordered him to pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: A sex offender who breached his sexual offences prevention order has been given a curfew.

Philip George Gavin, 59, of Preston Road, Grimsargh, had possession of a computer that had access to the internet at his home. He pleaded guilty and must pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

CHORLEY: Joe Squires, 21, St Oswalds Court, Coppull, Chorley, is to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court after admitting possessing cannabis during the period of a suspended jail term.

He will appear on June 21.

PRESTON: A man who grew cannabis plants and stole electricity to power the operation is to be sentenced by Preston Crown Court on June 21.

Paul Hodgson, 50, of James Street, Preston, admits dishonestly using electricity, cultivating cannabis, possessing cannabis, and obstructing a police officer.

Magistrates committed the case to crown.

PRESTON: Saif Ahmed, 27, of Lytham Road, Fulwood, Preston, admits taking a Mercedes car without permission and driving it on Ringway, Preston without due care and attention, or insurance.

He admits obstructing a PC and must pay a £300 fine, a £60 surcharge, £85 costs £85 costs and do 80 hours’ unpaid work.

CHORLEY: Dean Taylor, 42, of Railway Street, Chorley, admits breaching a restraining order by contacting a woman and was jailed for eight weeks.

Magistrates heard he was subject to a suspended jail term.

Leon Smith, 35, of Egan Street, Preston, admits stealing stereo speakers and must pay a £40 fine, £30 surcharge and £ 85 costs.

Bryony Willan, 21, of Steeley Lane, Chorley, was given a curfew after admitting stealing £153 clothing from ASDA and must pay a £85 surcharge and £40 costs.

Nassir Ibraham Umarji, 48, of Penguin Street, Preston, admits driving without insurance and must pay a £120 fine, a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Mark Speariett, 33, of The Martindales, Clayton-le-Woods, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Jonathan McLoughlin, 26, of Park Road, Adlington, Chorley, admits driving without insurance and must pay a £120 fine, a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Luke Hindmarch, 23, of Skipton Street, Morecambe, admits driving while disqualified and was banned for six months, given a curfew and must pay a £85 victim surcharge and £40 costs.
