Here are all the latest cases from Preston's courts.

Hit and run driver fined by courts

A hit and run driver who failed to stop after injuring several people in a road accident has appeared before the courts.

Anthony Aaron Knowles, of Claughton Avenue, Leyland, pleaded guilty to charges of driving without due care and attention, and failing to stop after an accident in which injury was caused, during his appearance before Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The court was told how, on September 11 last year, Knowles’ Chevrolet Kalos was involved in an accident on Queen’s Road, Fulwood, Preston.

The accident saw three men and two women suffer a personal injury - but Knowles did not remain at the scene.

The 21-year-old motorist was ordered to pay a £240 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs by the bench.

He was also given seven penalty points on his driving licence.

Thief must pay £3k compensation

A prolific shoplifter who struck nine times at shops in Preston and Clitheroe has been given an 18 week jail term suspended for a year.

Thomas David Maher, of Waterloo Close, Blackburn, was also ordered to pay a total of £3,000 compensation to two companies and was given a curfew.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard during a crime spree the 38-year-old struck at Sainsburys and Booths stores in the county nine times, stealing thousands of pounds of goods.

The nine thefts happened between September and December 2016.

The bench said they had taken Maher’s guilty pleas into account.

He will now under go 12 months of supervision by the probation service.

Court snaps

Laurentiu Alin Chircu, 27, of New Hall Lane, Preston, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £415 fine, £41 surcharge and £350 costs.

Ian McDermott, 36, of Fylde Road, Preston, was bound over for six months in the sum of £100 after admitting breaching the peace.

Tiago Arlindo, 25, of Seymour Street, Chorley, was found guilty of failing to give driver information and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Andrew Chadderton, 39, of Whitefield Road, Penwortham, was found guilty of driving without insurance or a licence and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Harry Hough, 40, of Gloucester Road, Chorley, was jailed for six weeks after admitting stealing booze from a store he was banned from.

Louise King, 41, of Gloucester Road, Chorley, was jailed for eight weeks after admitting two shop thefts and must pay £28.50 compensation and an £86.50 surcharge.

Jason Bachelor, 23, of Hawthorn Road, Ribbleton, was given a curfew after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay £85 compensation and £85 costs.

Jason Martin, 30, of Hollinshead Street, Chorley, admits possessing heroin and must pay an £80 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Neil Hull, 53, of Friargate, Preston, was discharged for 24 months after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Manish Limbachya, 46, of Plungington Road, Preston, was given a rehabilitation activity requirement after admitting assaulting a woman and must pay an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.
