A59 New Hall Lane: These were the scenes at a major Preston road after a woman was hit by a car

A female pedestrian was hit by a car on the A59 New Hall Lane at around 3pm on Friday, and is now being treated at Royal Preston Hospital.
The road was blocked in both directions between Skeffington Road and Arnhem Road from around 3pm to 7pm, as emergency services remained on the scene. The Post has contacted Lancashire Police for an update on the woman’s condition.

Hide AdOne witness, Ali Karim, told the Post how the pedestrian was airlifted to hospital and emergency services remains at the scene for several hours.
He said: “The lady who has been knocked over has been airlifted to hospital. It happened around 3pm and the lady who was hit was very serious. The window of the car has been smashed as she hit the windscreen. The car hit was very loud. I just hope she is ok.”
What did police say about the A59 New Hall Lane incident?
Speaking before the road reopened, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police told the Post: “We were called at approx. 3.12pm this afternoon to New Hall Lane. A female pedestrian has been in collision with a car.
In a statement, the spokesperson added: “She has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head and leg injuries. The road is closed at the moment while investigation takes place.”
