A59 New Hall Lane in Preston reopens following a collision which has left a woman with head and neck injuries

A major road in Preston has reopened following a three hour closure after a pedestrian was hit by car earlier this afternoon.

A female pedestrian was hit by a car on the A59 New Hall Lane at around 3 pm today, and is now being treated at Royal Preston Hospital.

The road was blocked in both directions between Skeffington Road and Arnhem Road from around 3pm to 7pm, as emergency services remained on the scene.

Speaking before the road reopened, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police told the Post: “We were called at approx. 3.12pm this afternoon to New Hall Lane.

“A female pedestrian has been in collision with a car.

“She has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head and leg injuries.

“The road is closed at the moment while investigation takes place.”

North West Ambulance Service have also been contacted for further details.
