And schoolchildren turned out to welcome the cuddly charity bear on the latest leg of a 500-mile trek from London to Glasgow.

The Rickshaw team, featuring six young people who have been helped by Children In Need in the past, cycled from Media City in Salford Quays to Morecambe on day five of the epic journey.

“I always look forward to this,” said Matt. “It’s the highlight of my year. It’s a an epic 500-mile cycle, but I just know that our six young riders have the determination and grit to make it.”

The Rickshaw Challenge has raised more than £16m for Children In Need since it started in 2011.

It travelled through Hoghton, Walton-le-Dale, Preston, Fulwood, Broughton and up the A6 to Morecambe.
