More than 130 current and former pupils, staff and well wishers have already bought engraved bricks that will form a unique feature in the external wall of the soon-to-be-built new school classroom at St Michael’s-on-Wyre CE School.

The aim is to provide a new classroom with enhanced facilities for the 120 pupils.

Former pupil and current school governor Christine Fleet and her family have already bought bricks.

Christine’s bricks will commemorate the many family members who attended or worked at the school.

Christine said: “I was delighted to support this superb school and at the same time have bricks with my parents, grandparents and even my husband’s name on.

“St Michael’s has always been such a lovely village school, and everyone has such happy memories of their time here.

“My best friend from school and I are looking forward to seeing our names, along with many others, forming a feature on the new school extension.”

Another Christine, this time former headteacher Christine Cameron, who was head from 1983 to 2003, has also bought a brick for the wall.

She said: “It is so nice to have the chance to help the school with the new extension. So many former pupils have bought a brick and it will be lovely to have this record of all those people who have been part of this school over so many years.”

There is still time to buy a brick. Contact the school, or St Michael’s Church for more details.
