Blackpool named one of the best UK destinations for a visit in 2026 by Time Out magazine
Blackpool has been named the UK’s best place to visit in 2026 by Time Out magazine, with the iconic seaside resort winning praise for its bold new attractions and packed calendar of free events.
Once held up as a symbol of the decline of the traditional British seaside town, Blackpool has completed one of the most impressive tourism turnarounds in the UK.
Now, Time Out has crowned it the best place in the country to visit in 2026 - recognising a destination that blends nostalgia with a clear appetite for change.

The resort’s classic draws remain as strong as ever. The Illuminations, Blackpool Tower and the Pleasure Beach continue to pull in millions of visitors each year, but it is what’s new that has caught national attention.
Kate Shane MBE, Managing Director of Blackpool Tourism Ltd, said: “We are delighted that Blackpool has been named by Time Out as one of the best places to visit in 2026.
“It is a testament to everyone working across the visitor economy that Blackpool is being recognised on such a prominent stage.
“Blackpool truly does have something for everyone from dancing in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom to thrill seeking adventures at Pleasure Beach Resort and Sandcastle Waterpark.
“2026 promises to be a truly special year, with milestone anniversaries at some of our most iconic venues and attractions.”
Blackpool Pleasure Beach celebrates its 130th anniversary in 2026 with the launch of Aviktas, a colossal new swing ride set to become the tallest of its kind in Britain, alongside a new Alice in Wonderland themed ice show.

Culture is also playing a bigger role in the town’s revival.
Blackpool is now home to the UK’s first circus museum, while nearby Fleetwood will host the inaugural Cine-Wyre film festival, a four-day global event featuring screenings, workshops and filmmaker Q&As.
Events remain a major draw with a formidable programme of free festivals including Showzam, Blackpool Pride, the Air Show, the World Fireworks Championships and the ever-popular Illuminations, which return from early September.
Looking ahead, visitors will also be able to stay at the newly refurbished Royal Carlton, an art deco seafront hotel set to reopen in spring 2026.
With something for families, culture lovers and thrill-seekers alike, Blackpool’s best days may well be ahead of it.
