Blackburn pensioner hospitalised with 'life-changing' head and facial injuries after being attacked by two dogs

Emergency services were called to a report of an assault in Devon Road at around 2.30pm on Tuesday (June 14).

The victim, aged in her 70s, was attacked by two dogs in the front garden of an address.

She suffered “serious head and facial injuries” and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

Police said the dogs, believed to be a “pitbull-type breed”, were seized from their owner.

Det Sgt Peter Davies, of Blackburn CID, said: “The woman involved was believed to be making a delivery to the address when she was attacked.

“She has suffered significant, life-changing injuries.

“Our thoughts are with her and her family at this time.”

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack has been launched.
