For the past eight weeks, Guild has been winding down to relaxation; his shoes have come off, he’s been growing out his coat and he’s been spending his days rolling around the fields before he heads off to The Horse Trust.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “He’s a horse who has truly excelled and loved his job and he’ll be a huge loss for us, but we know he’ll be right at home in his retirement and it’s well deserved for this big softie.

“Happy retirement Guild and thank you for your service.”
