275-year-old country inn will open 7-days a week with 'renewed focus on quality steaks and grills'
The new owner already has two pubs in the area.
A popular country inn is set for a new chapter - with extended openings and a ‘renewed focus on quality steaks and grills’.
The 275-year-old Red Pump Inn, in Bashall Eave, near Clitheroe, was put on the market in July for £185,000, with agent Christie & Co stating it had “significant growth potential”, especially in the wedding market.
Owners Jonathan and Frances Gledhill had run the pub for 10 years on a deliberately limited lifestyle trading model, opening only selected days across approximately 10 months of the year, offering what was described as a ‘seriously good steakhouse’ as well as eight luxury boutique bedrooms, four ensuite glamping yurts and two self-contained luxury shepherd huts.
Now the inn’s future has been secured with a takeover by local businesswoman Rebecca Govier.

Rebecca, who also owns the Black Bull Inn - Old Langho and Edisford Bridge Country Pub in Clitheroe, said she is “thrilled” to be taking on such a well-loved Ribble Valley pub.
She said: “Jonathan and Fran have created something incredibly special here, and our intention is to build on everything they've achieved, whilst preserving the charm, character and warm hospitality that have made The Red Pump Inn such a special place over the years.
“Our plans include a renewed focus on quality steaks and grills, a bar open seven days a week, our beautiful accommodation and glamping facilities and exciting opportunities for weddings and private celebrations in 2027. We'll be introducing things gradually, with plenty more news to share in the coming weeks.”
