19 illegal and abandoned vehicles seized in Preston during police enforcement drive
19 illegal and abandoned vehicles have been seized across Preston after police carried out a major enforcement operation targeting problem cars left on residential streets.
Officers from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing and Prosper Partnership Team joined forces with Preston City Council and the DVLA in a multi-agency crackdown designed to remove untaxed, unroadworthy and abandoned vehicles.
Problem hotspots were identified on a number of streets, including Miller Road, Fletcher Road, Kent Street and Great George Street, where officers say long-term vehicle issues had been repeatedly raised by residents.

As part of the operation, all 19 vehicles were taken away, with police saying the removals would help free up parking spaces and cut down on associated anti-social behaviour.
PC Musa, from the Prosper Partnership Team, said: “Local residents in this area regularly tell us that abandoned vehicles are a top issue of theirs. We are listening and working with partner agencies to tackle those issues.
“Untaxed and abandoned vehicles not only create an eyesore for residents and those working in the area, but they can also pose safety risks so we will continue to work alongside our partners to make sure that we are addressing these concerns.
“We encourage everyone to report issues by signing up to Lancashire Talking and In The Know.”
Lancashire Police are urging people to continue reporting neighbourhood concerns through the Lancashire Talkingplatform at stayintheknow.co.uk.
