A group of primary school newspaper reporters got the star treatment when they visited Preston's Charter Theatre. For one of the backstage areas they were able to see was the star's dressing room. 6. Ye Olde Original Withy Trees pool marathon
Regulars at Ye Olde Original Withy Trees in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, were queuing up to have their turn on the table during a 12-hour pool marathon to raise money for Mascot - Make a Sick Child's Dream Come True. 7. Play scheme parade
Town centre shoppers were treated to a colourful cavalcade as 450 children all dressed in costume snaked their way through Preston. 8. Pindar School building projects competition
Pindar School came second in a building projects competition back in 1990. The award was presented by Jane Preston, back centre, a member of the Construction Industry Training Board, and Bill Bethon, back left, the Regional Executive of the Chartered Institute of Building.
