13. St Peter's Primary School Children's Society cheque
A Lancashire school which amassed £700 was the only one to take part in a money-raising event for the Children's Society. Pupils from St Peter's Primary School, on Meadowfield, Fulwood, Preston, took part in Across the Diocese in which people from different areas of the county were sponsored to cross the diocese in different forms of transport. 15. Bypass opening
A long-awaited bypass was officially opened - amost five months ahead of schedule. Local schoolchildren and residents watched as the chairman of Lancashire County Council's highways and transport committee Coun George Slynn cut the ribbbon to open the new Kirkham and Wesham Bypass near Preston. 16. Preston Drama Club panto
A festive Humpty Dumpty brought the house down and gave audiences a cracking good time.
