We’ve gone back to the archives to find you images of more Preston pubs that are no longer trading. Preston’s once claim to fame of a pub for every day of the week has been decimated by the closure of many of our favourite hostelries. Our first look back brought back plenty of memories for many of you and we hope that this instalment does the same. READ MORE: Long lost Preston pubs. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Popular Preston pubs. 9. George Hotel
Although this pub was known as the George for many years, from late 1998 until its closure in 2001 it was known as the Shepherd's Arms. It was acquired as an extension to Ted Carters Fishing Tackle Shop. Photo: Archive
10. Falkland Heroes
Falkland Heroes in Tanterton opened in 1983 and it was a pub where Falkland veterans got a free pint of ale. It closed in 2002, and was later demolished after being unsafe due to fire damage Photo: John Huges
11. Gaiety
It was difficult to find an image of the Gaiety bar down Tithebarn Street. That is because it has had a number of names over the years, including the Jazz Bar, Harry's Bar and the Empire Hotel. You can just see it on the left hand side in this image taken in 1978. The name that the Empire Hotel acquired in later years, was the colloquial name for it for
tens of years before - The Jazz Bar. Gaiety bar/Jazz Bar/Harry's Bar closed down in 2012 and was eventually turned into student accommodation Photo: Archive
12. Kings Arms
Found on Stanley Street, for most of its existence this pub was known as the Kings Arms. For many years it was Joplins, and then once again the Kings Arms. And at the time of its closure in 1999 it went under the name Crossroads - a popular live music venue. It is now a fish and chip shop Photo: Archive
