As part of the Lancashire Post’s 140th birthday celebrations, we are sharing 14 galleries celebrating some of the very best things about our county.
Earlier this week, to mark the end of the October half term, we celebrated Lancashire’s best-performing secondary schools in a gallery.
Now we’re shining a light on the primary schools who most help their pupils reach their full potential.
Each year, the Department for Education (DfE) publishes primary school league table which sees each school awarded a score out of 120 for SAT assessments in reading and maths.
Analysis of the 2026 SATs are not yet available so the below 'scaled’ scores' refer to Key Stage 2 assessments taken by pupils at the end of Year 6 in the summer of 2025.
We have included the 14 Lancashire primary schools which had the highest proportion of students meeting the ‘expected standard’ at the end of last year, and ranked them in ascending order.
According to the Department for Education, pupils are meeting the expected standard if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as 'working at the expected standard' or better in writing.
Pupils are classed as achieving at a ‘higher standard’ if they achieve a scaled score of 110 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as ‘working at a greater depth within the expected standard’ in writing.

As well as celebrating the county’s best schools, so far in our Lancashire Post 140th celebration galleries we’ve looked at the legendary Lancastrians who made history over the years, the famous faces who keep our county’s name in lights today, the famous brands that began life in Lancashire, the best restaurants in Lancashire, .
