Young peoples project "Preston First Impressions" needs backers

Please support this project. Friends of Winckley Square are working in partnership with ‘Wot Wud U Do Educational Services’ (WWYDES), an organisation that provides educational experiences to help young people reach their full potential. WWUDES was founded in 2020 and uses creative expression and lived experiences to help participants build social, emotional, and employability skills.

The "Preston First Impressions" project is a participatory community photography initiative where young people and others new to Preston will learn photography skills to express their views on the city. Through hands-on training, they will develop skills in storytelling, photography, and editing.

With a focus on young people, participants will create and exhibit their work, fostering life skills, reducing social isolation, and increasing engagement with local community programmes. The project will inform decision-makers on improving the experiences of newcomers to Preston.

Friends of Winckley Square already work with schools, colleges and universities and are keen to work with WWUDES on this proactive project especially as the Winckley Square Quarter has suffered greatly in the recent past from vandalism caused by disaffected young people.

At the end of the project the young people’s work will be showcased in an exhibition on Winckley Square. Crowdfund Lancashire is a partnership between Lancashire County Council and Spacehive to fund projects that improve health and wellbeing and cultural experiences through crowd funding. Crowdfund Lancashire will match the money raised through crowd funding for the “Preston First Impressions” project.

WWYDES needs a minimum or 20 backers. If you feel this project is worthy of backing, you can view more information and donate as little as £2 here https://www.spacehive.com/preston-first-impressions If the target is not met and the project does not go-ahead, backers’ donations will be refunded around a week after the fund raising closes which is in 25 days.
