Local celebrity films BBC Teach Live Lesson in Wigan
Hacker T Dog has been sighted at Wigan Youth Zone filming a Live Lesson to be broadcast during this year’s Anti-Bullying Week.
BBC Teach has teamed up with the CBBC star and the Anti-Bullying Alliance for an interactive Live Lesson for primary schools. The programme will inspire children to handle disagreements constructively, without turning to bullying.
Children will help Hacker to put on the ultimate sports match where the players come together and respectfully work out their differences. There will also be lots of classroom activities to get everyone thinking about the different ways we can show respect to one another. Activity sheets and a teaching guide will be available to download on the BBC Teach website to help teachers prepare for the lesson.
The lesson, hosted by Rhys Stephenson and Shanequa Paris, also features two of Hacker’s puppet pals, Barry the Hamster and Gary the Rabbit.

Hacker T Dog said: “Hello Cockers! It’s me, Wigan’s very own national treasure. Are you ready for Britain’s biggest, yet least well known, brand new sport, HackerTball? Join me and my chums as we show each other a little R E S P E C T. And Cockers, remember to listen to others when they speak. Oh sorry, what did you say? I keep getting fur in my eyes.”
BBC Teach will be running a live commentary page on the day, giving shoutouts to schools taking part. Schools can send their shoutouts to [email protected] with Anti-Bullying Week in the email heading or by using the hashtag #BBCLiveLessons.
The 30-minute Live Lesson will be broadcast at 11am on Tuesday 12 November via the BBC Teach website and on CBBC. It will also be available on-demand on the BBC Teach website.
