Fishwick Care Home supports local foodbanks to help families in need

Ribble View care home in Preston, part of Exemplar Health Care, has launched a community food donation initiative to support local families during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Ribble View has long supported local food banks, including donations to the local Salvation Army food bank and homeless shelter, and is now supporting a food bank hosted at Farringdon Park Community Centre following a request from people supported at the home, including a former resident who volunteered there each Tuesday.
Recently, residents, families, colleagues, and neighbours came together to donate three large shopping bags of essential items, including soup, biscuits, sauces, household essentials, and sweet treats. The home has previously hosted communitydonation drives for advent calendars and small Christmas gifts for local children.
Home Manager Jordan Crompton explained:

“Our team cares deeply about supporting our local community. It’s important for us to come together and do what we can to help people who may need a bit of extra support.”
The donations were gathered through a home-wide appeal, promoted on social media and in the reception area to encourage participation. Residents took an active role in the campaign, with one person leading the effort by going around the home to collect donations and organise the items before they were delivered to local foodbanks.
Reflecting on the initiative, Jordan added:
“We hope these donations help to relieve some of the pressure people are currently experiencing, while bringing a small moment of joy. That ties in perfectly with our mission of making every day better.”
The foodbank expressed heartfelt thanks for the support, describing Ribble View’s contribution as greatly appreciated and a real help for local people in need.
Ribble View supports adults living with complex needs arising from neurological and physical health conditions.
