Lancashire Poundland to close as huge clearance sale begins - here's when

A Lancashire Poundland store is set to close in a matter of weeks.

Poundland confirmed last year that it would be shutting a tranche of UK stores, with nearly 100 sites - including the Lancaster shop - closing down as part of a wide-scale restructure.

The closures formed part of the retailer’s wider turnaround strategy under new ownership by Gordon Brothers, who acquired the business for just £1 in June. The move helped the company avoid administration in August after a High Court-approved restructuring plan was secured.

The closure programme saw the Poundland conclude 2025 with 651 locations, down from 800.

Now, the Poundland store at Two Saints Retail Park in Ormskirk is preparing to shut, with the business noting the closure is the result of a “standard business-as-usual lease event”.

A spokesperson for Poundland said: “Sadly, we’ve been unable to secure ongoing lease terms that would enable us to keep trading there.”

The Ormskirk store will close its doors on March 30, with a 40% off clearance sale launching on February 10.
