His sister, Sharon Isherwood, said: "I would like to thank people for their kind words. It's a very sad time for me and my brothers.

"I would like to say a lovely thank you to all his friends and also for what you are doing now. You are truly beautiful and we have no words that can describe what we all feel as a family."

His nephew Jack Lawson, told the Post: "We're all in bits, it’s just a shock to us all. He was one of the most loyal people to be put on this earth.

"We just need to make sure he gets the send off he deserves. He would do anything for anyone, God bless him."

As well as working at the Brook Chippy in Clayton Brook, Peter often helped out his friends at the Wee Chippy in Holme Slack, Preston.

His friends at the chip shop - Bernie, Tina and Sarah - will be organising his funeral and have set up a GoFundMe for those who would like to help contribute to the costs.

They said Pete was "like family" and say they have been left "heartbroken" by his sudden death.

They said: "It's devastating news that Pete suddenly passed away, he was a real community chap.

"Pete did not have much in life but he had two daughters who he loved very much and he was a hard worker at the local chip shop at Clayton Brook where he was loved by many.

"Because of all the lovely tributes that we saw coming through on the Lancashire Evening Post's Facebook page, we thought we would give him the send off he deserves.

"He did not have much but he had a massive heart of gold and with so many people wanting to pay their respects and asking how they can contribute to the funeral, this GoFundMe will help contribute to those costs.

"He had nothing but he just loved helping others out. He is going to be missed by so many and he deserves this."
