Preston Five Guys confirmed as US burger chain gets green light for new Deepdale restaurant

Five Guys can now get started on transforming the former Frankie and Benny's restaurant at Deepdale Retail Park after Preston City Council gave the go-ahead this week.

Town hall has approved proposed changes to the empty retail unit – vacated by Frankie and Benny’s in 2020 – ahead of an opening date later in the year, reportedly around September.

The changes are mostly minor aesthetic alterations such as signage, lighting and a new entrance door.

The latest planning report says: "The new door will allow for a more efficient and streamlined access point for servicing the restaurant.

“The installation of the signage will stand to promote Five Guys’ presence whilst ensuring a high quality and uncluttered appearance.

“Further, the introduction of Five Guys’ synonymous branding on the unit and in the seating, area will enhance the vibrancy of the leisure park, enticing visitors to the park and restaurant."

The council has approved plans for these alterations on the condition that the illuminated sign follows regulations.

News of a Five Guys opening in Preston emerged in February, when the fast food chain began advertising job opportunities on its website for a new restaurant in Preston.

Five Guys, which originated in Virginia in the US in 1986 and now has more than a 1,000 venues worldwide – including 113 and counting in the UK.

It has 11 venues in the North West but none currently in Lancashire; There are currently seven in Greater Manchester, two in Liverpool and two in Cheshire.
