'Modern and attractive': new Preston banqueting suite plans unveiled

Plans have emerged to open a new banqueting suite in Preston.

The facility has been proposed for a vacant building on Sedgwick Street in Deepdale, which was constructed in 2023 as an intended kitchen showroom, but never actually started trading.

According to an application lodged with Preston City Council, the interior of the two-storey structure is already suitably fitted out for the planned new use, with a “modern and minimalistic” layout, featuring white walls, marbled flooring, “delicate and attractive lighting and other decorative features”.

If the blueprint – by IMC Banqueting – gets the green light, the 312-square-metre space will host events including weddings, birthdays, awards evenings, work parties and Eid festivities for what is expected to be a client base in the “immediate local community”.

The suite would open at 5pm, once most businesses in the surrounding mixed-use commercial, industrial and residential area had closed.

A gated car park is available at the rear of the premises, which is shared with neighbouring sites – with just four spaces under the ownership of the proposed banqueting venue

However, a planning statement submitted on behalf of the applicant suggests that the parking provision would be “adequate”, given that “most users of the facility are expected to be nearby residents” – and a car park on Penny Street is available for those who would be travelling to the site by car.
