I’m the Editor of LiverpoolWorld. I worked in sport for more than 20 years before making the switch over to news and features with National World in July 2021 as a new challenge. I quickly discovered a love of food and travel writing, along with city lifestyle features.
I started my career with ESPN, in London, in 2000, before moving on to BBC Sport, in Manchester, in 2014 and then on to Liverpool FC for the start of Jurgen Klopp’s reign in 2015.
During those decades, I've been lucky enough to cover FIFA World Cups, UEFA Champions League finals, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and almost everything in between. But these days it's all about news, features and shaping the LiverpoolWorld platforms to celebrate all the city has to offer, with a fresh perspective.
I have written about local issues and city heroes, covered breaking news such as bomb attacks, tackled national headline news, human interest stories and even futuristic plans for Liverpool. But city life and travel is where the heart is, be that seeking out hidden gems, unearthing the best places to eat,, embarking on stunning walks around Merseyside or tracking down the best places to jet off to from Liverpool Airport.
As a married father of two, my free time is somewhat limited these days but I still try to find time to take in as many sports events and music gigs as possible. I’ll often be found outdoors too, be that in the garden, on one of Merseyside’s stunning beaches, exploring the city or heading up to the Lake District with the family.
