Rae of summer sun

A nationally acclaimed singer-songwriter from Lancashire will be back in her home county this month to launch her new album.

Lancaster-born Imogen Rae, real name Imogen Mechie, will perform in the music hall at the Storey in the city on June 26.

Imogen is also looking forward to sharing the stage with Stephen Fry, The Fratellis and Jess Glynne in the summer.

Born in Lancaster, Imogen won the Exposure Award in OpenMicUK as well gaining second place in the Young Songwriter of the Year and becoming a finalist in the National Folk Awards.

Last summer she was picked up by the Mercury Award Nominated producer Andy Ross and crowd funded the recording of her new album “Queen of Hearts” through Kickstarter.

She said: “I was absolutely thrilled with the local support without which, the production of Queen of Hearts would not have been possible. I can’t wait to show people the finished product.

“I’m very excited to be performing back in my home town with my double bassist Adam Harrison on June 26 in the beautiful Music Hall at the Storey Institute in Lancaster.

The evening will be featuring songs from my new album - Queen of Hearts - which will be released in July.”

With the help of 300 backers, Queen of Hearts was recorded in ASTAR Studios in Manchester and is available to preorder from her website www.imogenrae.co.uk .

Imogen added: “In my uni holidays I have a busy gigging season!

“I’m looking forward to promoting my new album in venues of all sorts of shapes and sizes. I’m particularly excited to be sharing the stage with Stephen Fry, The Fratellis and Jess Glynne this summer!
