In 2008, the South Shields funnyman played one of his first big gigs at the Brook Street, hosting their Stand and Deliver Comedy night back when he was a virtual unknown.
Fast forward a few short years and he’s back, as a bonafide TV star, with the lead role in BBC2 sitcom Hebburn and regular appearances as panel member on Celebrity Juice under his belt, with his own headline show – Feeling Lucky.
Since that 53 show, Chris has been seen on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Russell Howard’s Good News, Argumental and many other shows.
But his greatest moment came when he landed the lead role in sitcom Hebburn, written by his best friend, comic Jason Cooke, in which comedy legend Vic Reeves played his dad.
This show, which asks if are lives are an elaborately laid plan or just pure fluke, sold out completely when Ramsey unveiled it at last year’s Edinburgh Festival and London’s Soho Theatre.
Now the Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee has been forced by its sheer popularity to extend this national tour into Spring this year.
He’s particularly pleased to be back at 53 Degrees and said: “I remember it was one of the first proper big gigs that I did.
“You had to do all these rubbish ones first to prove you weren’t rubbish and then you got that big one. I’m really looking forward to going back with my own show.”
Tickets are £15 plus booking fee, from the box office on 01772 893000.
