They will be supported by The Balkanics. Monsieur Doumani was formed in 2011 in Nicosia by Antonis Antoniou (tzouras), Angelos Ionas (guitar) and Demetris Yiasemides (wind instruments).

Although each comes from a different musical background all three are influenced by Cypriot folklore on various levels.

It is this uniqueness that Monsieur Doumani has focused upon, enriching traditional songs with new arrangements, melodies, rhythms and sounds.

The Balkanics have their own blend of Eastern European music, and deliver a big-band seven-piece sound ranging from dance rhythms to dreamy interludes.

A group of young people go time travelling at the Dukes in Lancaster next week.

Ug is the latest production by the Shattering Images theatre company based in the city.

It’s a show devised and created by a cast with learning needs, inspired by the popular children’s story, Stig Of The Dump.

Ug follows a school trip to Stonehenge where an eclipse takes place, sending the pupils back in time.

“It explores the clash of cultures between Stone Age life and modern life,” explains director Jilly Sumsion.

It’s also a story of how people can feel wrapped in cotton wool in a society which is fast becoming risk averse.

Shattering Images use storytelling, art, original music and dance to take the on a mysterious journey through time.

Performances take place at The Dukes Centre for Creative Learning next Wednesday at 1pm and 7pm and on June 12 at 7pm.

Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games, a spectacular new staging of the much-loved dance show plays three dates at Blackpool Opera House next Tuesday to Thursday.

It’s part of 200 dates across 15 countries over the next 18 months and marks the retirement of Michael Flatley, the show’s founder.

It stars James Keegan, Morgan Comer and Mathew Smith as the Lords of the Dance.

“I’m blown away by the remarkable talent and abilities of the great cast we’ve gathered,” says Michael.

With all the thrills of the original, Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games features new staging, new costumes and choreography plus 40 of the world’s most outstanding young performers.

An award-winning New York comedian who says he’s Free until Famous, proves it at the Platform in Morecambe next Friday.

Lewis Schaffer will be entertaining for free, with a voluntary contribution requested at the end of the show.

Schaffer combines the comedy genes of Joan Rivers and Jackie Mason with the relevance of the freshest British comedians in a free-wheeling style, often described as “comedy jazz”.

It makes every show different and thrilling., so fasten your seat belts.

He was the house compere of the Comedy Cellar and the Boston Comedy Club in New York and has also had a long-running residency at the London’s Leicester Square Theatre.

He is also the regular MC of Peter Cook’s Establishment Club and a star of Nunhead American Radio on Resonance FM London.
