Creepy crawlies park days

The ‘creepy, crawly, flying, swimming things’ event hosted by Preston Council is the third in a summer series.

It will take place at Fishwick Local Nature Reserve on Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm.

The focus of the minibeast adventure will be for youngsters to see what beasties they can discover in the ponds on the reserve.

The fourth and last event in the series will be held on Tuesday August 20.

It will also run from 1pm and 3pm and youngsters can make bug boxes.

The bug boxes can be used as homes for some of the wildlife discovered on the sessions.

The sessions are run by the Parks and Horticultural Services and booking is essential.

Fishwick local nature reserve was officially opened in October 2007.

The site is a crescent shape and covers an area of approximately 24 hectares on and adjacent to Common Bank which is a natural escarpment overlooking the flood plain of the River Ribble.

The reserve is adjacent to the A6 London Road. It is easily accessible by car, bicycle or foot.

A number of Preston bus services stop approximately 100 meters from the site.
