Brox and Boyes keeps singing

The Ribchester Festival will begin with a night of blues later this month and two of the world’s top female blues musicians will be leading the way.

Headline act Kyla Brox was recently nominated as ‘Best female’ in the European Blues awards.

The daughter of blues singer Victor Brox, Kyla started singing onstage at the age of 12 and has several albums to her name, including Coming Home and Grey Sky Blue.

Playing with her partner Danny Blomeley Kyla channels the salty blues of Bessie Smith through her own tender soul approach.

She never flinches from emotion and is considered the finest UK blues and soul singer of her generation.

Support will come from Fiona Boyes who has toured the world for the past 25 years playing her distinctive style of blues, will get the festival off to a rocking start on Tuesday June 23.

Australian Boyes has won many awards down under and been nominated for the top awards in the United States including ‘Best female artist of the year’ and ‘Best acoustic album of the year’.

Festival promoter Carl Barrow of Hollow Horse Events said “Ribchester Village Hall can rarely have witnessed two ladies from opposite sides of the world with so many accolades.”
