The Law of being a Slimming World consultant!
A slimmer who has changed not only her life, but career by losing weight is now helping other people make lifestyle changes so that they can achieve their own weight loss dreams and lead healthier, happier lives.
Building a career as a solicitor, Katy Hampshire knew well the demands the job brought to her daily life. With a husband who worked away, Katy found she was carrying both the practical and emotional weight of daily life. Raising two young children, meeting important deadlines and juggling the school runs demanded discipline, stamina and and a stubborn belief in herself.

Becoming a solicitor was not just a professional milestone for her, it was an act of endurance. She succeeded not because life was calm, but because she learned how to keep going when it wasn’t.
Katy acknowledged that achievement does not insulate you from struggle. For years, Katy’s weight reflected the instability of her circumstances — up and down, then up again. Like many working mothers, she absorbed the unspoken expectation to cope seamlessly, to look capable at work and composed at home.
Diets came and went. Slimming World came and went. However, the last time she joined her local Slimming World group turned out to be the right time for Katy.
Katy said “What is rarely acknowledged is how deeply weight is tied to exhaustion, emotion, and routine. When you are parenting, working in a demanding profession, and often managing family life alone, food can become comfort, control, or simply the quickest form of relief. This was not a lack of discipline. It was survival.
“ The difference, the last time, was not willpower alone. It was readiness — and compassion. I returned to Slimming World not as someone desperate to fix herself, but as someone finally willing to give herself the same care she gave to everyone else. As I lost the weight, something shifted. I could see my body changing — clothes fitting differently, movement becoming easier — but more than that, I could feel my confidence growing. I remember sitting in group full of emotion as I knew my body was changing. With every pound lost, I stood a little taller. Losing two stone steadily and sustainably wasn’t just about what I saw in the mirror; it was about rediscovering belief in myself and trusting that I could follow through.
“Then came the most meaningful transformation of all. I chose to turn experience into empathy and became Slimming World consultant.
“Becoming a Slimming World consultant was not a departure from my past, but an evolution of it. The skills I developed as a solicitor — listening without judgement, supporting people through vulnerability, standing beside them rather than above them found a new home. The people I now support are often people like me: busy, tired, capable, and quietly struggling.
Katy went on to say “I lead with honesty. With the understanding that parenting isn't always easy and motherhood reshapes bodies, that absence reshapes routines, and that strength is often built in unseen moments.
“This is not simply a story about weight loss. It is a story about building a career, raising two children, enduring distance, and learning — finally — to include myself in the care I gave so freely to others.
And in doing so, I became not just an example of change, but someone who can help guide others finding their way.
