Rainbow Ramblers raise £13,000 with money still coming in
More than 250 people joined Rainbow Hub’s 2026 Rainbow Ramble in Croston
The roads around Croston were a colourful spectacle on Saturday May 9 as Amy Clayton from sponsors, Fletchers, cut the ribbon and started the 2026 Rainbow Ramble – one of Rainbow Hub’s most popular community events. Supported by Fletchers Group, the day has already raised £13,000 with money still coming in. Every penny will help the Mawdesley based charity to continue providing specialist services for children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.

Over 250 people including children (plus dogs) took part in the fantastic 5 mile walk (or run) which started and ended at Bishop Rawstorne High School, Croston. First across the finish line was 12-year-old Leo Ashcroft from Rufford in 47 minutes (five minutes faster than last year), followed by James Holloway also from Rufford. Jessica Parker from Preston came third.
This fun family day out was hosted by the fabulous Mersey-side radio presenter Claire Simmo and part of the celebrations in Rainbow Hub’s 25th Anniversary year. Participants were able to warm up with qualified instructor, Rachel Burrows Fitness. Music was provided by PQA Chorley and football activities by Fylde FC’s Nathan Delfouneso. Children also enjoyed face painting, guest characters and lots of Bubble fun with eBublio Magical Bubbles.

Refreshments including burgers, ice cream, hot and cold drinks will be provided by Tuckerbox, Leyland and Miss Whippy. Whilst checkpoints along the route with treats were generously sponsored by CGL Landscape Maintenance Contractors, Scholes Estates, Primetime Watch Repairs, R Draper Ltd and Notre Homes. Happy moments throughout the day were be captured by Gareth Edwards photography. Ventbrook, M Taylor Plant & Agri Solutions and JCR Recycling provided logistical support.
Emma Parish, Corporate Events and Relations Manager, Rainbow Hub, said, “it was a fantastic day and the weather was kind for the event itself. Our amazing community came together to raise vital funds and we send our heartfelt thanks to everyone for taking part, together with all those too numerous to mention who gave up their time to help us. Special thanks go to Fletchers Group – our main supporters; Claire Summo for hosting the day and Bishop Rawstorne for the use of their fantastic grounds. We have already raised an amazing amount with more still coming in but we couldn’t do it without you all. Thanks everyone from the bottom of our hearts – you truly capture the spirit of our very special charity.”
