Rainbow Hub staff and children thank their fantastic volunteers

Rainbow Hub celebrated and thanked its dedicated volunteers for their invaluable support in helping children and young people with neurological and physical disabilities across the region.

Rainbow Hub  has said a massive thank you to the fantastic volunteers who make such an enormous contribution to the Mawdesley based charity supporting children and young people with neurological and physical disabilities.

Fifty volunteers attended a Coffee Morning and enjoyed time to chat and see the children they help support in a special performance of “Better when I’m dancing” and a “thank you” song which brought much joy to the event. Rainbow Hub mummy, Michelle shared what the charity means to her family and how her daughter, Evie, has benefited from the support and services they have received.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Arden Lea Nurseries, all the volunteers were all given a plant as a small gesture of thanks for their much appreciated contribution and Bidfood generously provided a delicious selection of cakes and pastries.

Amongst the supporters who attended were Dave and Joy Mellalieu from Ainsdale, a married couple who have been volunteering this past year since retirement. They originally became involved with Rainbow Hub many years ago and took part in the first ever Rainbow Ramble in 2009   Now they are able to volunteer regularly and attend Rainbow Hub on a weekly basis. Joy enjoys helping in Rainbow Hub Nursery and Dave helps with general maintenance. Their help and support really does make a difference.

Irene Blackburn from Croston also volunteers weekly and has done for a couple of years. Irene helps with admin, in the finance office and with fundraising. She is a retired Teaching Assistant and enjoys being able to still make a difference to children’s lives.

Rainbow Hub’s volunteers span all ages – it is currently estimated the youngest  is 17 while the oldest is around 75 and the Board of Trustees are all volunteers too. Volunteers come from all backgrounds and carry out an extensive range of jobs from helping keep the grounds tidy, assisting at events, helping with fund raising collections and office administration to wrapping Christmas presents, putting up decorations and assisting the staff in the school, nursery and conductive education, who support the children and young people and their families who use the services..

But Rainbow Hub can still benefit from more support both during the week and at weekends.

If anyone has a few hours to spare,  together with skills and kindness to share, please get in touch and find out more about the volunteer opportunities and processes. Please email [email protected]
