Nelson and Burnley solicitor named national finalist at British Wills and Probate Awards
Sarah Farren, Wills and Probate Solicitor and Team Leader at Farnworth Rose Solicitors in Nelson, has been named a finalist in the One to Watch category at the British Wills and Probate Awards 2026
Sarah's work supports families at some of the hardest moments they face, from planning ahead for the future to administering the estate of someone who has died. She typically manages a caseload of around 50 estates, wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, the documents that allow someone to appoint a trusted person to make decisions on their behalf.

Janet Lalor, co-founder and Director at Farnworth Rose, said: "One impressive addition Sarah has brought in is following the ethos that 'the best way to learn is to teach' and always turning any course or event learnings into an internal lunch and learn event or producing helpful documents, presentations and PDFs for clients.
"In amongst all this, her regular attendance at the fortnightly Ribble Valley Bang networking group keeps her connected to the professional community."
Alongside her caseload, Sarah gives her time to Pendleside Hospice in Lancashire, delivering guidance and drop-in sessions for residents and staff. She has also mentored two paralegals into more senior roles in the past 12 months.
Client reviews are notoriously hard to come by in wills and probate work, where few people want to spend more time thinking about a bereavement. Recent clients have left public reviews on Google. One reads:
"Sarah was incredibly professional, kind, and completely unjudgemental to our personal circumstances. She made us feel comfortable from the very beginning and guided us through the process with so much care and understanding... Writing our wills felt less daunting (and depressing) thanks to her support."
Sarah Farren said: "I didn’t expect to be nominated never mind reach the finalist list, but it’s lovely to be recognised. We spend so much time focusing on the experience of our clients making Wills and their loved ones when helping deal with an estate – things like this help you take a step back and realise what you do really is valued."
The British Wills and Probate Awards 2026 will be held at the Kimpton Clock Tower in Manchester on 8th October. More on the firm's wills and probate services is available at https://www.farnworthrose.co.uk/wills-trusts-estates.
