Keep Blackpool Tidy celebrates three years of community action and calls on residents to take the pledge

Keep Blackpool Tidy is celebrating its third year of making a difference across Blackpool, marking major milestones including a growing volunteer network and hundreds of residents stepping up to help keep their neighbourhoods clean.

Since re-launching in 2023, with more of a street scene focus, the campaign has brought together residents and community groups with one shared goal: creating a cleaner, tidier Blackpool.

Over the past three years:

  • Volunteer numbers have increased year on year, adding extra sparkle to streets, parks and public spaces
  • Community/commercial litter picks and tidy-up days have supported local cleansing teams
  • Residents have signed up to Bronze, Silver and Gold pledges, committing to positive environmental behaviours
  • Bin sticker take-up continues to grow, helping spread the message street by street

To say thank you, the campaign is preparing for its second volunteer appreciation event at Blackpool FC, recognising the people who give their time to support their town.

Now, organisers are launching a renewed push for pledges, encouraging every household to get involved.

Residents can choose from:

  • Bronze – The pledge to use bins correctly by recycling, and ensuring any dog waste from walking a dog is correctly bagged and placed in bins (Blackpool have over 1,000 street and park litter bins available and can all take dog waste)
  • Silver – The pledge to contribute towards the cleanliness of their street by cleaning/de-weeding outside their property and using the Blackpool council’s reporting form online for any street cleaning issues, such as Fly-tipping, Dog fouling, and graffiti
  • Gold – The pledge to become an active member of the Keep Blackpool Tidy community litter picking group, and/or will look after my alleyway with neighbours to keep it clean and tidy

The long-term vision is simple but powerful: Keep Blackpool Tidy bin stickers on lots of wheelie bins across the town, a visible sign of pride, responsibility and shared ownership.

Campaign leads say:

“Increasing pledges is a big priority for the campaign in 2026.”

“Three years in, Keep Blackpool Tidy has shown what’s possible when communities come together. Every pledge, every volunteer hour and every small action helps create real change. Our next goal is to grow pledges across Blackpool and make tidy streets everyone’s business.”

Residents can take the pledge online and join the growing movement helping to shape a cleaner future for Blackpool.
