Housebuilder provides £3,000 boost for Chorley primary school
Pupils at Clayton-Le-Woods Church of England Primary School are celebrating after receiving a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Lancashire.
The donation comes after the school council applied for funding via the housebuilders Community Champions initiative.

Persimmon Lancashire Managing Director, Gareth Stansfield, presented the donation to pupils and staff during their morning assembly, with Councillor Neville Whitham in attendance.
Mrs Townsend, School Council Lead at Clayton-Le-Woods Primary School, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for their community grant.

“The children have worked hard to raise funds for new outdoor equipment, and this support means we can now install outdoor gym equipment for all ages, helping to promote a healthier, more active lifestyle in our school.”
Councillor Neville Whitham, Clayton West & Cuerden Ward, commented: “It was lovely to witness the joy and delight on the children’s faces at their morning assembly, when Persimmon Homes was able to hand over a £3,000 cheque.
“This money will go towards the purchase of three new pieces of playground exercise equipment, keeping the children further entertained at break and lunch times the headteacher, Mrs Bashora, stated.”
Gareth Stansfield, Managing Director of Persimmon Lancashire, added: “At Persimmon we want to leave a lasting positive legacy through supporting local people, and I am delighted we can do just that with this donation to Clayton-Le-Woods C of E Primary School who are a cornerstone of their local community.
“It was great to see how excited the pupils were, and I hope they enjoy the new outdoor equipment.”
The donation forms part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which sees each of the homebuilder’s 29 regional businesses donate up to £6,000 every quarter to local charities, community groups, and good causes.
