The £1,500 donation came from David Wilson Homes, which is building homes at nearby Calder Rise, and will replace the wooden arch above its entrance to enhance the facility that is used by local groups such as a music workshop, cubs, beaver and scout groups and an adult dance club.

Operated by the Cottam Community Association – a registered charity run entirely by volunteers – the centre plays an important role in bringing neighbours together and strengthening community spirit.

Trevor Hart, chair of Cottam Community Association added: “We’re incredibly grateful for this generous donation. As a volunteer‑led charity, support like this helps us maintain the centre, keep activities affordable and continue offering a space that the whole community can enjoy.”

Jennifer Burns, sales director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “Cottam Community Centre is a brilliant example of what makes neighbourhoods thrive – people coming together and creating a place where everyone feels welcome. We’re proud to contribute to the work of the volunteers who keep the centre running and make such a positive difference to the community.”

The donation came from the Barratt Redrow Foundation which is the charitable arm of Barratt Redrow plc, of which the David Wilson Homes brand is part. Its purpose is to help communities across the UK to thrive, focusing its giving on children, young people, and those most disadvantaged.

David Wilson Homes is currently building new homes at Calder Rise. The three-storey Kennett and four-bedroom Holden show homes are open to view from Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5.30pm. To find out more about the development visit: www.dwh.co.uk/new-homes/dev-001127-calder-rise/
