Final celebration in historic clubhouse to raise funds for PAPYRUS
Among the last events to be held in the existing Whittingham and Goosnargh Sports and Social Club clubhouse will also be one of its most meaningful, as the local community comes together to raise money for PAPYRUS, the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health among young people.
The charity fundraising evening will take place from 7pm on Saturday July 18 2026, marking the end of an era for the much-loved clubhouse before the new facility opens.
Providing the entertainment will be local band Midlife Crisis, fronted by Lee Clarke, a Site Manager at local construction company Carefoot, who is overseeing the construction of the club's new clubhouse and playing fields. His involvement makes the evening a fitting tribute that brings together the club's past, present and future – celebrating the old clubhouse, looking ahead to the new one, and recognising the contractors helping to make that transition possible, along with it benefitting a charity close to his heart.
Entry to the event is completely free, with everyone welcome to come along, enjoy an evening of live music and support a worthy cause. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase from the bar throughout the evening, and a raffle featuring a fantastic selection of prizes will also be held. All proceeds from the raffle and other fundraising activities will be donated to PAPYRUS, helping the charity continue its vital work supporting young people and working to prevent suicide.
