Clitheroe opticians raises money for Ribble Valley Food Bank
A Clitheroe opticians has fundraised for a local food bank charity over the past month.
Throughout December, the Specsavers Clitheroe team has donated £1 to Ribble Valley Food Bank every time a customer completed a feedback survey provided to them following an appointment.
This has raised £50 so far, which will go towards providing a three-day emergency food parcel for a family in need. These parcels include three meals per day, and snacks and drinks too.
Ribble Valley Food Bank provides nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them.
The charity forms part of a nationwide network of food banks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Sidrah Rashid, director at Specsavers Clitheroe, says: ‘As a store, we’ve been donating to Ribble Valley Food Bank for the past couple of years, and it’s a charity we’re very passionate about supporting. No one should have to go without food, and this time of year is difficult for us all, let alone those already struggling.
‘We wanted to help those who need it most, and we can’t thank our lovely customers enough for helping us to do that.’
Kathryn Lamport, manager at Ribble Valley Food Bank, says: ‘We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from the team at Specsavers Clitheroe. As a community project, the food bank relies heavily on the generosity of local businesses and residents, and it is initiatives like this that enable us to keep supporting people facing hardship. Their kindness helps us not only provide vital food supplies, but also offer hope to those who need it most.’
