Walk on the wild side with park dinos
Stanley Park has been turned into Jurassic Park for the next week, with an invasion of life-sized dinosaurs.
The full-scale, life-like prehistoric creatures, which include a T-Rex and diplodocus, feature realistic snarling jaws, moving eyes, swaying tails and roaring side effects.
Jurassic Kingdom, the UK’s first national outdoor animatronic dinosaur tour, sees visitors temporarily transported back millions of years.
The full-scale models have been built by experts in China and the walking tour is being run by Weli Creative – the team behind the Magical Lantern Festival tour in 2016, which saw hundreds of thousands of people through the gates in Leeds, London and Birmingham.
Naz Kabir, Weli creative’s event director, said: “We were delighted to open the gates to the people of Blackpool, and the many tourists that descend on the town, and really hope they enjoy this unique experience.”
The tour has an educational element – with an educational worksheet for primary school aged children, and other activities include an excavation scene, where younger children can dig in the sand to unearth a T-Rex fossil, an education marquee showing a dinosaur documentary, a paid-for VR experience and photo opportunities.
The event runs until August 13 daily, from 10am to 8pm. Visit www.jurassickingdom.uk
