Residents in the resort have been left baffled by the 'mysterious' advertising board - which has been posted in South Shore, near to the Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The cryptic poster, which can be seen on the side of a property, opposite Bond Street car park appears to depict a child playing football, among other sketchings.

The giant advertising space also carries a hand-drawn 'BBC' logo leading to speculation as to whether the public service broadcaster could be responsible for the cryptic billboard.

One neighbour, who came across the bizarre poster described the marketing as 'childlike.'

They added: "It just looks a bit odd - I couldn't really work out what the drawings are or what it even means?

"I was a bit perplexed to be honest.

"I'm not sure what it's attempting to get across. I asked around but no one seems to know where it came from."

A message under the drawing reads 'That Peter Crouch Podcast'

It is not known whether the former England international, who launched his entertainments and sport podcast in 2018, is aware of the billboard or is involved.

The podcast has been consistently one of the most popular podcasts in the UK since its launch and was the most listened to podcast on BBC Sounds last year.

The team which also includes Chris Stark and Tom Fordyce introduced their fifth season last month.

The Gazette has attempted to reach out for comment.
